Are all of Slack's paid features really free?
Yes. Full history, unlimited members, unlimited bots and data connections, 50GB of files, and full export — all the messenger features Slack sells in its Pro and Business+ plans are free. The only paid item is Modak AI, your AI teammate, and even on the Free plan you get 30 uses per person per month for free.
Why is it so cheap?
We decided not to make money from the messenger. AI has real costs to run models, so we charge only enough to cover that cost. Your conversations aren't used to train AI, and we have no plan to profit by locking in your data, so export is open anytime.
How are the free 30 counted?
This is the number of times one person calls Modak AI in a month. Calling it in a channel, asking on your own, translating or polishing, and running a scheduled automation each count as one. It refills on the 1st of every month. When used up, only that person waits until next month or upgrades to a Modak AI plan. The messenger keeps working as usual.
Are meetings (voice, video, screen sharing) free to use?
You can try it out. On the Free and Modak AI plans, the whole workspace gets 120 minutes of meetings per month, and the balance refills on the 1st of each month. From Modak AI Plus, meetings are unlimited, and you also get AI Notes that transcribe what's said and summarize it. What happens to the price when people join or leave?
Each time you pay, we recalculate by the headcount at that moment. If it grows, you pay more from next month; if it shrinks, less from next month. People who join mid-month aren't charged for that month. You can cancel anytime, you keep using the period you've already paid for, and your conversations and files aren't deleted.
What do I need to move from Slack?
One export ZIP from your Slack admin moves everything over: channel conversations, threads, reactions, and original attachments. Private channels and DMs are included in the full export ZIP available on Slack Business+. You don't need to connect a Slack account.
Isn't logging in a hassle?
There's no password. Just enter the 6-digit code you got by email to log in. You can also come in with a Google account. Invitations take a single link.
Can I use Modak from ChatGPT or Claude too?
Yes. Put the standard connection (MCP) address https://modak.im/mcp into your AI app's connector settings, log in to Modak and allow it, and that AI can read channels, summarize, and leave replies and DMs within your permissions. I'm worried about security.
Data is fully isolated between workspaces, and private channels and DMs are visible only to their members. The AI can't see anywhere the person calling it can't see. For isolated networks, you can also get started with on-premises, installed directly on your company server, on a self-serve basis.
